Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains what data ChessEyes (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and your rights. Questions: contact us.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address and a hashed password when you sign up.
- Chess data — the chess.com / lichess username you connect, and your public games imported from those platforms (moves, results, dates, opponents, ratings).
- Donations — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we keep the donation amount and a Stripe reference.
- Feedback — messages you send via the contact form.
- Analytics — anonymous usage data (see our Cookie Policy).
How we use it
- To run the service: detect the openings in your games and match grandmaster videos.
- To maintain your account and dashboard.
- To improve ChessEyes (aggregate, anonymous analytics).
We do not sell your data.
Third parties we share data with
- Neon (database hosting), Vercel (app hosting).
- chess.com / lichess — we read your public games via their public APIs.
- Stripe — payment processing for donations.
- Google Analytics & Vercel Analytics — usage analytics (Google only after you accept cookies).
- YouTube — we link/embed publicly available videos; we don’t share your data with them.
Your rights (GDPR)
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and withdraw analytics consent at any time. To delete your account and data, contact us and we will action it promptly.
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. On deletion request, we remove your account, games, and personal data.
